I've been going circles when trying to asses pros/cons of C++ and Rust. It's the topic frequently discussed on HN, but still find the point is not driven home properly.
Eventually I've picked C++, because of it wide support in GPU programming and in general cross-platform support. But then I encountered this article and it just occurred to me that the main advantage of Rust is that it makes code easier to edit, because of it's memory safety. You can have memory safety in C++ in theory, but practice if multiple people will work on same codebase things will likely not go that well.
Sorry for the newb question, but does C++ has some inherent advantages in cross-os development to target cpu, gpu and other novel hardware (npu, ipu, dspu etc.)?
Here is a list of majority of biggest os players in their respective fields: mobile (iOS, Android), desktop (Windows, MacOS, linux like), WebAssembley (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Opera, Brave), TV (AndroidTV, Tizen, WebOS, Roku, Apple tvOS, FirefoxOS, CastOS), console (PlayStation, Xbox), watch (Apple watchOS, Samsung, Fitbit, Garmin), tablet (iPadOS, Android)?
