People are attracted to confidence. A person who has issues about self-image (baldness being one particular aspect of that) will always be less attractive from that angle alone. If you're bald and feel self-conscious about it making you unattractive, the better road to attractiveness is to stop being self-conscious (easier said than done), rather than stopping being bald (even harder to do). This is basically what the OP is alluding to: the solution to the "baldness problem" isn't treatment, but rather acceptance.
