A dumb question regarding flash programming: assume the erase block is 16MB, and there is a fresh block to write to. If I slowly append-write (not modifying existing data) to the block, would subsequent writes require the whole block to be erased/reprogrammed?
The use case is usually about append-only logs: MacOS constantly generates tiny log lines and those must go somewhere? Does Write Amplification make logging a bad use case on SSD?
