I Can't Stand Fox News, but Censoring It Might Be the Dumbest Idea Ever
- someonehere 6y agoIt’s dumb when six corporations control the narrative in the US. Some of which cozy up to China, big pharma, big telco, all the industries that hurt Americans (in many different forms): https://fortune.com/longform/media-company-ownership-consolidation/ https://fortune.com/longform/media-company-ownership-consoli...
- echlebek 6y agoThe USA should change its laws so that fraudulent news outlets can be sued into oblivion. Then they won't need censoring.
- 0xy 6y agoThe New York Times will collapse first, given their lies about WMDs in Iraq that helped sell the war that led to thousands of people dying. Followed by NPR, which falsely accused an innocent victim who had been threatened with a firearm during a protest of being a "white nationalist". Followed by the Washington Post, which falsely claimed Russia hacked into critical US energy infrastructure. There'd be no news left, because they profit from lies.
- postpawl 6y agoIt has been interesting seeing how effective that has been with the lawsuit between Smartmatic and Newsmax. The clip I saw had one of the anchors reading what seemed like a court mandated statement saying there was no evidence of their guest’s claims and one of the anchors walked off set when the guest refused to stop.

- exclusiv 6y agoCensoring opposing, and even ridiculous views, is the dumbest idea ever. #1) You might be wrong or #2) don't you want to know who those ridiculous people/views are? They readily identify if you let them.
- badmadrad 6y agoI think most people can't stand political views they don't like. But censorship is never the answer.
