If I was shot to death for no good reason of course I’d want people to tell other people about it so they can do something to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Bias is everywhere - but there is still a regression-to-mean for self-interest via societal progress.
- Retric 6y agoThat’s why we collect crime statistics and do police investigations etc. If I specifically get shot it’s only really relevant in a wider context or to people who know me. Having 1 million people hear about my death to then forget about it by next week isn’t really relevant to anyone. Meanwhile my friends don’t need to hear about it on the news.
- DaiPlusPlus 6y agoThe subtext of my reply was that I was advocating for gun control legislation. There won't be popular support for GC without the news media reporting on unnecessary deaths that could have been prevented with adequate GC.
