Why are energy sources less needed in the winter? I assume that energy usage higher in the winter months.
- polka_haunts_us 6y agoI would assume it's because winter in Texas isn't necessarily cold, at all. For example, Houston has average hi/low of 66/47 F in February, as opposed to 94/75 in July. In the first case, you're running the heater sometimes, as opposed to the later case where you probably have AC on as much as humanly possible.
- rossdavidh 6y agoThe fundamental reason for all of Texas' problems is that energy usage is NOT usually higher in the winter here. It is, by far, normally higher when it's 105+ degrees F outside. But, extreme weather events are likely to be more common in the future than in the past, so we need to get ready for weather events that would have been unexpected previously.
