Same point as in universal healthcare - the ones who think they don't need/want it are the ones who might not be able to afford it when they need it. You need to be taught general skills so you have the chance to find something you like and are good at (though you generally throw away each idea after a few more years at school). If you learnt more from adult socializing than with people of your age, and you found school boring and overly broad you sound kind of autistic.
