I presume it'd have a config file to declare where the content is. Inside the markdown itself you have frontmatter. I presume this is happening in most Git-based jamstack platforms, like Netlify. Or Nuxt Content, so if I get ambitious I guess the next step would be to see how they do it. What they lack is exposing that internal API with an external endpoint.
