Why Do People Embrace Conspiracy Theories?
- codevark 6y agoBecause "people" are just monkeys, ruled by their emotions. And you can't do anything about it. Because you're a monkey.
- vfclists 6y agoWhat is a conspiracy theory under than a disagreement with the official versio of "the truth"? Are the start of the Covid crisis, a number of governments and the WHO said wearing masks wasn't necessary to control Covid. Would that make those who disagreed with them conspiracy theorists?
- Mister_X 6y agoQ: "What is a conspiracy theory under than a disagreement with the official versio of "the truth"?" Your question reminds me of religious proselytizers doing their best to muddy the intellectual waters to push their weak agendas. I produced a late night radio talk show for 6 + years and some of my um, more colorful listeners who called in, truly believed that reptilian shape shifting aliens were in full control of the U.S. Government. More than a few people believe that, and stated so on the airwaves, but many folks would characterize it as a Conspiracy Theory. I've never seen or heard of a governmental Press Release stating that in fact, the U.S. Government isn't controlled by shape shifting reptilian aliens, so there is no "official version" of "the truth" for those people to disagree with, and where your clearly rhetorical question fails. So it appears that the "truth" is, it really is slightly unhinged humans who lack the cognitive ability to discern fact from fiction who believe some conspiracy theories.
