Hah, wait, so Clubhouse is currently iPhone only? I've been hearing a lot about it but haven't been tempted to join, but now I'm learning that I couldn't even join if I wanted to??
- brjfjvkgtk 6y agoNo one who matters would allow themselves to be caught using an Android. It's like using a Windows laptop and calling yourself a "software engineer". Or being a teen and not rocking $300 sneakers.
- splintercell 6y agoWe-didn't-start-the-flame-war.mov
- brjfjvkgtk 6y agoCool people use .mkv
- gk1 6y agoI think people are missing the sarcasm.
- acidburnNSA 6y agoYup. I just learned this as well while inadvertently missing out on a 'mining bitcoin with micro nuclear reactors in space' session I was invited to.
- m4rtink 6y agoSure, you might be able to go around a lot of regulation, but keeping the reactors cool would be complicated, unless in space means some non-Earth planetary body. Titans atmosphere or the oceans on Europa are pretty cold. Of course that way the bitcoin transaction processing time would get even longer due to light speed delay.
- eznzt 6y agoThat's been the traditional way of launching new apps—iPhone development is way easier and iPhone owners are way wealthier.
- dmingod666 6y agoHow many dozen people exist outside America? I recon atleast 2, 3 if I were generous.. probably only half of those barbarians can read...
- jonplackett 6y agoDon’t know why you’re getting down voted for stating 2 facts. Don’t shoot the messenger.
- notsureaboutpg 6y agoThat's not the traditional way of developing apps though, especially not now when cross platform app development is easier than native development on either platform
- dmingod666 6y agoFor a service that is free, in what context is it a better thing that it's users have more money? Just sounds like you think rich people are better... Btw, I'm sure you'll be pretty surprised finding out how much current iphone 5 owners make a year..
- jonplackett 6y agoIt will have to make money somehow won’t it. It will either need to do advertising or get people to pay. Getting people to pay is easier if they have more money. Getting well-paying advertisers is also easier if your audience has more money. The main thing I was commenting on though was iPhone being much easier to develop for. This is indisputable.

- nom 6y agoIt's only for the cool people, can't have any poor android users in the exclusive clubhouse! I wonder if it was intentional or just a matter of priorisation.
- whimsicalism 6y ago> I wonder if it was intentional or just a matter of priorisation. Find it hard to believe it wasn't intentional. The class associations with iPhone are quite strong.
- wfhpw 6y agoThere's also a huge variance in microphone quality for Android devices. The engineering focus to ensure uniform sound quality could take away from the team's focus in its early stages.
- oarsinsync 6y ago> I wonder if it was intentional or just a matter of priorisation. I assume both? Intentionally prioritise iPhone over Android, because thats still (rightly or wrongly) considered the higher value platform to target. Instagram did this back when they launched in 2010 too.
- notjtrig 6y agoIt requires the newest version of iOS too, it's the only app my iPhone 7 won't run.
- DyslexicAtheist 6y agothat is most hilarious. so they're using state-of the art mobile devices just so they can send unencrypted audio over udp.
- skinnymuch 6y agoThis isn’t true. It works with the iOS version that came out 1.5 years ago - 13.0. Apple is prepping 14.5 for release.
- miguelrochefort 6y agoMy iPhone 7 can run it just fine.
- skinnymuch 6y agoIt works from 13.0. We are at 14.4.
- jlokier 6y agoThey've been advertising to hire someone to do the Android app for a while, so I don't think they intend it to remain iPhone only. But it looks likely it'll be only iPhone during their current invite-only phase.
- Traster 6y agoIt’s literally called clubhouse, they decided to start a company with the most transparently petty toxic name. You’re not allowed in the clubhouse you’re not part of our cool club! Said Andreesen Horowitz, either a massive VC firm or a 12 year old boy not sure which.
