Frankly, you haven't received the money until the check has cleared. You would have been well within your right. Not petty at all.

- mixmastamyk 15y agoMaybe it was a cashiers check, which gives you a bit more assurance.
- MarketingMuppet 15y agoNot if issued by Bank of America, crooked liars. Worst institution on earth. Just a bunch of heartless greedy bastards that if society had some balls should be in the stockades.
- illumin8 15y agoIt sounds like from the article this was a compromise negotiated at the last minute by the bank manager with the deputies. Personally, I would have made them carry out the court order to the letter of the law. Fuck 'em.
- shareme 15y agogiving a bouncing check to officer of the court is immediate jail time for bank manager..
- wccrawford 15y agoBeing within my rights and being petty are 2 different things. They sometimes overlap. This is one such case. If I didn't trust the check to clear, I'd have no choice, of course. But since I could foreclose on them AGAIN if the check didn't clear, there's no way they are going to make that mistake. (To be clear, the above is totally hypothetical and I am not involved in this incident at all.)
