Interesting take!
Could status updates just be another "post type" in wordpress parlance? Then have those post types are treated differently across your site.
They would have their own RSS feed (syndication, yay) as well as a my-feed/ page.
I also agree about the amplification factor. If one wants to acquire readership then one must play the social media game in some form.
- weare138 6y agoIt's also a strange take. The author compares Mastodon to Twitter like Mastodon is a company. It's an open-source software project. If you want to 'play the social media game' just setup your own Mastodon node or any of the other open-source social media platforms.
- Arnt 6y agoI didn't get that; as far as I understood "fail" seemed to mean "fail to build an audience", "fail to build a community beyond a few early adopters", "fail to build an audience among the kind of people I want as audience for my tweets" or something like that. I wish it'd be a little more elaborate on what failure means and why mastodon will fail in that sense.
