Not really true.
It’s widely accepted that the average intelligence is the same for male and women, but the variance is larger among men.
Of course women are capable in chess, and there are women capable of beating nearly everyone with extreme ease.
However, when looking and the very tail of the distribution, you will find mostly men due to the higher variance.
Hence, more men Nobel prizes, more man chess champions, etc...
I am not ruling out societal factors, but way too many people today rule out biological differences altogether!
- me_me_me 6y agoLOL, you are arguing with facts. Good-luck in life with that approach. here is the article[0], though you probably already made up your mind. [0] https://en.chessbase.com/post/what-gender-gap-in-chess https://en.chessbase.com/post/what-gender-gap-in-chess
- isitdopamine 6y agoThe fact that men and women have the same average intelligence, but with different variance is very well documented in psychological literature. An extremely well established fact, no doubt about it! Anyone who took Statistics 101 knows that these two distributions will show extreme differences at the tail, hence the large number of male Nobel laureates, chess champions, etc... Who is arguing with facts?
- me_me_me 6y ago> Who is arguing with facts? You are since you didn't even read the darn article that states the opposite. But sure, keep believing in your well documented psychological literature.
