Dead on arrival given the current state of the House. I can't even understand why anyone would propose such a thing other than to gain support from the big network companies. I have on shitty option and that's Spectrum even though I am in the middle of a huge metro area; most people I know have multiple options especially AT&T Fiber. I have a massively fast (sic) 6mb upload. I can't even hold a zoom call with video.
Maybe Starlink will finally goad them into competition. But if we had non-profit muni internet, everyone would need to compete.
- mywittyname 6y agoTelcos are big, big Democratic supporters. And they only need to flip a handful to pass a bill like this (which will be upheld in the supreme court)
- chrismcb 6y agoHow can the supreme court uphold it?
- rabidrat 6y ago> I can't even understand why anyone would propose such a thing A bill that won't go anywhere but gets a lot of attention is a great time-waster. Think of it as part of a DoS attack on meaningful legislation.
