This 1-minute clip is what's being spread around the socials, but I find the full 3-minute answer much more interesting: https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2021/02/17/china-uyghurs-human-rights-joe-biden-town-hall-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/joe-biden-town-hall/ https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2021/02/17/china-uyghurs-hu... In it, he gives a rambling but coherent rundown of Chinese history, the challenges China faces right now, and XJ's vision for China's future.
This is going to be something of a political Rorschach test, since Biden peppers his answer with defenses of "human rights" and vague threats about the role America's going to play in standing up for them. There are plenty of sound bites in there that portray Biden taking an aggressive stance. For example, he says, "There will be repercussions," and claims that he intends to retake America's place as the "spokesperson for human rights" at the U.N.
But the clip will also provide ample fodder for anyone who wishes to twist Biden's words to place him in a negative light. The implications, or what's not said here, are very troubling indeed.
