I’m of the opinion people like to massively overpay for their Internet and speeds paid for are underused. I’m on 25Mbps at $40/month. I was on 75Mbps for a bit and I don’t notice the difference except if I’m downloading a 90 GB game or something. My ISP could probably give me 200Mbps and neither of us would notice. Still waiting on the killer app for fast Internet. Surprisingly TMobile’s 5G on the iPhone 12 is giving my dad 60Mbps download and he’s on a cheap unlimited data plan so I’m wondering if that’s what is going to put more pressure on existing ISPs. 5G adoption has probably been kind of low so those speeds may not hold.
