It feels like the low interest rate is here to stay and will become the norm. What is the incentive to increase it beyond 2%? The window of opportunity to increase the rate is most likely gone. It can only be done during the time of prosperity or when there is a bubble. We used the prosperity window to push political agendas and use the stock market as a campaign tool. Then the pandemic hit and now we are in this weird bubble but there is a lot of suffering. Pullback in the markets is going to somehow impact the people that don’t participate in it and so we need to keep it going. If the bubble pops and markets tank we will automatically keep the rates low.
Anyway I look at it they are going to stay low for years.
