Going Beyond the Board: A Whole New Trello Is Here
- probably_wrong 6y agoAs someone who used to like Trello, this "new Trello" saddens me. Not because I wasn't expecting things to turn out this way, but rather because I thought they would. I went through Joel Spolsky's early posts where he talks about why Trello is a good idea. His first bullet point in this article [1] reads "We’ve successfully made a non-developer product that actually appeals to civilians. We tried to avoid the software developer niche this time, and it worked.". Similarly, in "How Trello is different" [2], he is proud that Trello "can be used by people from all walks of life". This new Trello is not that Trello. We all jumped on the Kanban wagon because it was a way to make software development easier - all you need is post-its! But this new Trello is the exact opposite of that. I guess all software turns into Jira eventually.
