It seems like the only way for carbon sequestration projects to succeed is to leverage cheap nuclear power. The winner of the XPrize competition [1] should just go to whoever figures out how to build a few gigawatts of nuclear capacity, and power "whoever comes in second place".

- MattGaiser 6y agoI’m part of a team that is looking at basically that for a pitch competition. Figure out some carbon capture thing that economically works at some low rate of power and it runs whenever the price of power is low enough. It would just use those periods of renewable overproduction though.
