The sun should dictate when we sleep. Sunrise is nature's alarm clock. Sadly we've messed that up with electric lighting inside and outside.

- AndrewDucker 6y agoWhere I am, I'd be asleep 14 hours a day. I don't think that is sustainable. For a start I don't actually want to sleep that much. Nor do I think I could.
- darkwater 6y agoThat works for latitudes near the equator were the day duration is more or less constant. For higher/lower latitudes daylight changes vastly during the year. How do you cope with that?
- billysielu 6y agoAll the other critters manage just fine. People can too.
- darkwater 6y agoAnimals do it doesn't sound like a good reason to me. There is plenty of things humans do and animals don't and vice versa and it's perfectly fine.
- Turing_Machine 6y agoThe other critters, in general, evolved where they are found. Humans live in all kinds of environments that are far removed from the East African Rift.
- vraid 6y agoLots of animals manage by either migrating to the tropics or hibernating through the winter. Neither is viable for a modern human society.
- Turing_Machine 6y agoWhere I live there are places where the sun doesn't go down for months in the summer and doesn't come up for months in the winter.
