Only one highway in America uses the metric system – Interstate 19
- 1-6 6y agoI’m going to step out on a limb here but the metric system isn’t as it’s cracked up to be. First, it’s base-10 which yields fewer divisors than a base-12 imperial system. Highly composite numbers are favorable for dividing into equal parts. 65 miles or 343200 feet has 144 divisors instead of 100 km or 100000 m which has a measly 36. Yes math is easy when you’re in base-10 but our clock is base-60 for a reason. If I had a choice, this would look like an SI system with base-12 meters in duodecimal.
