Another hacked verified account posting garbage https://twitter.com/GMacdonaldMSP/status/1361143214560919554 there are other accounts too This is ridiculous. Hundreds of engineers being paid $200k/year + but cannot figure out how to stop verified accounts (and non verified accounts_) from constantly being hijacked to post obvious spam . Even though this scam is as old as dirt, people keep falling for it, and wallets with hundred+ incoming transactions from victims are not uncommon, with many bitcoins stolen. It is a never ending spigot of victims , made worse by celebrities' tweeting about bitcoin, extreme gullibility, and cluelessness.

Congress needs to give twitter an ultimatum to police crypto spam the elon musk profile and other highs profile accounts or else be held criminally negligent for aiding and abetting fraud. At this point ,twitter is an accessory to fraud

  Repeal section 230, problem solved. All nonsense on social media would stop the very next day. Please, let 230 be repealed.

If twitter can detect misgendering, wrongthink, and "covid misinformation" with supranatural speed, why not obvious scams. I am not being sarcastic. These sites have algos to detect what they perceive to be covid misinformation.

The power of monopolies and network effects where people are stuck with shitty products run by incompetent people with a dubious sense of ethics that may not align with their principals. On this case it’d be easier to defend the Twitter engineers lack of ethics than incompetence, which is telling as for the lack of discussion on HN.

Oh I thought you meant the fact that he promotes nonsense like GME and dogecoin to people who have no money and no understanding of how quickly they can lose their life savings. God I hate Elon Musk so much, what an absolute asshole.

It's probably difficult to tell spam from reasoned posts since Musk likes to promote and profit from his promotion of cryptocurrencies. It's not illegal but that doesn't mean it makes you a good person.
