I’m not entirely clear on the purpose of this post. It begins with “maybe I’ll regret this if I move to London”, and then the rest of the post is about how it’s fine that enormous pay cuts are cool because they aren’t happening to the author. I’m somewhat perplexed that an openly equivocating casual musing that openly features the author’s complete disconnection from the topic made its way to the front page of HN. It doesn’t really appear to have any substantive material to justify its position aside from uh, jeans? It kind of reads like boilerplate ad copy but instead of selling you “Buy this iPod” it’s “It’s actually cool if your employer decides to keep $60k of your current salary for themselves because of your zip code “
