Silicon Valley isn't full of fascists
- JMTQp8lwXL 6y agoI don't disagree with this, but it's lacking important context: A few extremely wealthy people can cast their influence (via tv/social media/news ad buys) astronomically farther than a vast majority that might contribute $10 or $20 to a political campaign. So you might have 90% of the industry at one end of the political spectrum, and 5 fabulously wealthy at the other end. And those 5 will set the narrative for what the perception of all of us is. If this weren't true, this article wouldn't have to exist.
- _Microft 6y agoThis was also an objection I had to the argument that were are not that many readers in SV after all. The number readers matters at lot less than the influence they have.
- thr_owa_way9876 6y agoCall me naïve but I find it nothing short of hilarious to suggest that Silicon Valley is full of alt-righters and closet Nazis. I've never been to SV, but I can't of anywhere in the world (that isn't a college campus) whose name is more synonymous with hyper-woke, progressive "SJW" politics, or at least that's the party line even if there's a silent faction of dissenters. What next, will someone have to write a rebuttal titled "the Atlantic Ocean isn't full of camels"?
