I read recently that the problem is the next wannabe- fascist is not going to be so narcissistic. They will be smarter, and more interested in power than in attention. In many ways, president Trump failed (in a more aggressive implementation of right wing polices) only because he didn’t care about the next steps. He wanted the spotlight. Arguably this is why Mitch McConnell was so effective with the judiciary. The guy filling the vacancies only cared how much attention it garnered. I worry about the far right politician who has the popularity but also an agenda they intend to execute.
