- dredmorbius 6y agoShipping traffic is surprisingly concentrated into high-traffic sea lanes. Ships (like aircraft) follow least-energy, shortest-distance paths between economical (high-traffic) ports. The Southern Ocean in particular sees exceptionally little shipping traffic.
