I think the public should be challenging assumptions and questioning claims. Advocating for an “editor” aka “gatekeeper” is a form of elitism in that it assumes an editor will be “better” at challenging assumptions than the public at large. While you may find many instances where that is true, it’s not good for public discourse to be boxed into a frame of discourse decided by the ivory tower types. My current financial support for Glenn has nothing to do with him. It has to do with the funding model of journalism. He’s just the first one I came across to try it, so I’m supportive.
