Let me get this straight. The chip industry wants the US government to fund rebuilding chip manufacturing plants in the US that they shipped offshore because it increased their profits. Why didn't I think of that.

Western thinking never goes further than the next election, or the next earnings report, or the next Bonus received, etc. Much as we might knock Japanese long-term planning, or the Communist countries' Five-Year Plans, we have to recognise that those long-term plans work out best in the end.
