Twitter permanently suspends conservative activist group Project Veritas
- coldtea 6y agoThe US "democracy" had just two parties alternating in power for a century or so (after the 80s, with the same effective neoliberal corporatist policies, aside from some different bones each threw to their voter base to differentiate itself). So much for choice. Nowadays, it seems only a narrow, even more constrained, side of each party is allowed by big tech and major media pundits, towards even more homogeneity. Now it seems only one of the two parties' side are allowed in mass media, coporate speak, anymore (which includes the Dems "deep party" killing off Berny's chances - not that he put much of a fight in the end).
- hourislate 6y agoIts basically gotten to the point where big tech punishes anyone or any group that challenges the left wing narrative. I don't know how anyone can be ok with that. It's not going to end well.
- Arnt 6y agoYou don't know... but if you want to learn, I can help you. From outside the USA, it's quite puzzling how the staid factual Republicans have disappeared from view. There once was a sizable "fiscal responsibility" movement within the party, for example. People might disagree strongly with AOC and were at the same time married to accuracy. Many of them talked like central bankers. Where are they now? Nowadays the view from outside shows the left wing narrative and a bunch of wild liars. The most important right-wing politician is someone who told almost thirty thousand lies in public. If you want to be seen as ok, don't tell thirty thousand lies, not even if you also say or do something good, and don't nominate a candidate who goes on to tell thirty thousand lies, because it rubs off on the party that nominated that candidate. Find a non-left-wing narrative that stays away from lies.
- ledgerdev 6y agoLong term a free and open society needs a distributed and un-censorable twitter like communication protocol/medium. Any efforts to build something like this out there?
- yuppie_scum 6y agoWere you under a rock for the whole Parler thing?
