Medium Has Unionized
- dismalpedigree 6y agoI keep waiting and hoping to see one of these unions be a trade union (Ala plumbers, ironworkers, etc) where there is significant training and an essentially guaranteed employee quality. This seems like a solid trade for accepting a middleman between labor and mgmt. Disappointingly, It seems this is just yet another “workers do the same. Employer pay more” situation.
- postpawl 6y ago“workers do the same. Employers pay more” Seems too cynical to me. The only bargaining power most individual employees have is to vote with their own feet and leave. Unions allow workers to get a seat at the table with upper management when it comes to making decisions to do things like cut costs. If employees don’t have a seat at that table, getting screwed is going to be much more likely. I’m not saying unions are perfect, but a little more power for regular employees to negotiate in their interest doesn’t seem like a bad thing.
