In the past couple of years I started to use a heavier functional style for my code. What I noticed is that any syntactical benefits of async/await has a lesser impact when most of your application logic lives in pure functions, since you greatly reduce the amount of code in async functions. When I started using async/await in JS 4-5 years ago I thought: "How could we have lived without this for so long?". These days I don't care much about it.
