Why Do Electric Plugs Have Holes?
- Mazzen 6y agoGood video structure and nice explanation. Liked the justification piece at the end. It's a reminder that most everyday solutions in our life are not the best version of what they could be. Another thought: Remember that this is just one of many standards. People on the internet often forget that the US is not the only nation on here ;) https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/ https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/
- theamk 6y agoTL/DV: the video claims that it used to matter in the past for the best retention in the outlet. The video also says that it no longer matters, but companies still make the holes because customers expect this. While this video has some interesting information about old patents, unfortunately the most interesting part ("why do electric plugs have holes today") is all speculation.
