I think the issue is more that parts without correct encoded keys are not accepted by system, and in fact purposefully cause a “lock” of the system. Kind of like when your HP printer warns you that your printer cartridge isn’t name brand, but worse. Also, the issue of voiding your warranty by using non-certified parts and repair centers.
