Watching the doc I came away with the impression that part of the reason the conservatorship was granted was because Spears was in the process of making her 'guru', Sam Lufti, her manager and he was seen as a scam artist who was already in the process of sucking money away from her.
I agree that it doesn't provide a good reason to keep this going in perpetuity. Even if it is a legitimate concern I'm not quite sure why it is the state's job to get involved.

- handmodel 6y agoAgain - from my understanding it wasn't just that she had mental health issues but that she was literally cutting checks (for significant sums) to people that everyone (including the state) considered a con artist. Conservatorship laws clearly were not designed for people like her, though, which is why the whole situation she has been stuck in perpetuity is bogus.
