I wish we could stop flagging posts like this. The discussion is thoughtful, and the topic is interesting.
- x86_64Ubuntu 6y agoThe post is getting flagged because such posts that touch on racism in the context of US invariably end up being a celebration of anti-black resentment.
- omginternets 6y agoNo they don’t. The comments here are the perfect counter example.
- anonjustice 6y agoFlagging is the digital equivalent of throwing a temper tantrum when the balance of your echo chamber has been disturbed.
- skinkestek 6y agoNot always, but a lot of the flagging seems to be that, yes.
- omginternets 6y agoI don't know if that's fair. It certainly can be that, but it's also nice to be able to remove things like: - blogspam - flame bait (with the obvious caveats) - excessive reposts etc. It just sucks when something like this gets swept up.
- xibalba 6y agoIndeed. Is HN becoming another place where minds need to be coddled (a la U.S. universities)?
