Should We Dim the Sun?
- LinuxBender 6y agoNo. To assume we are intelligent enough to even begin to understand all the consequences of such an action is ignorant hubris. Furthermore, you are affecting everything under the sun. Every country, every living thing. Are you going to get all major powers on earth to agree to something, or is one country going to "just do it"? When things go wrong, aside from the potential catastrophic environmental impact, what international reaction will this trigger? War? Economic isolation? What would I do instead? Adapt, improvise, overcome. Hunter gatherers adapted through many ice ages and warming periods. Surely we can adapt better than they did. If we are contemplating having people live on Mars, a dead planet, surely we can adapt to significantly less challenges here on earth.
