Sorry I must have misread your comment then :-) For Node BE code I either end-up writing pseudo e2e tests (e.g. using supertest like here https://github.com/daliusd/cardamon/blob/master/app.test.js https://github.com/daliusd/cardamon/blob/master/app.test.js) and/or testing individual components by separating them out from express stuff.
