New York Times refuses to delete my account
- 1970-01-01 6y agoTry hitting them with a GDPR request? https://www.datarequests.org/generator/ https://www.datarequests.org/generator/
- ChrisGranger 6y agoThe OP is in Chicago. GDPR is of no use for someone in the US.
- 1970-01-01 6y agoIt does apply due to NYT having EU customers. See here: https://termly.io/resources/articles/gdpr-in-the-us/ https://termly.io/resources/articles/gdpr-in-the-us/
- ShakataGaNai 6y agoSomeone needs to make a CCPA version of that.
- ShakataGaNai 6y agoUnfortunately this is all too common. I've run across many sites that simply do not have a function in their system for actually deleting an account. Renaming it to a fake email address? Sure. But deleting it? Nope. Not even forcibly logging you out. Under CCPA this should be required. But even if you're a California resident, very very few companies care.
