  This should be a wake up call to both states that they can no longer rely on their natural and historic advantages and need to start making a greater effort to retain and attract businesses and individuals. For example, if California and New York were to lower their tax rates to 0, these articles would pretty much disappear. New York might have to make a bit more of an effort, especially in the post COVID era, but NYC particularly has been seeing tech replace finance as a source of jobs and income for many years now, and could continue building on that.
