Why is this kind of thing controlled by (indirectly) internet accessible machines? Is this a portent of more such things to come? I don't trust government, especially municipal government to manage computer security competently.
- tartoran 6y agoWonder why this is accessible not as data but to do actual changes and modifications remotely. Surely this will change and new policies will come into effect before a disaster strikes. We're in bad shape security wise in the private sector as well, not sure what your gripe with the government is but at least their incentive is not to extract as much data from you as possible. Also in this case a government worker who was at the plant caught and rectified this attack. The problem you're complaining is not government vs private sector but more like bad management/bureaucracy/to complicated to mortals vs good management/individual initiative based/self management (it could be as a government agency or as a private one). The monster hierarchy makes it hard to fight all sorts of things in plain sight
