Eh. Color me skeptical. A big problem in Canada is that the big telecomm companies are constantly lobbying to increase prices. For example, in 2019 the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced lower infrastucture rental rates for companies like Teksavvy (one of the smaller internet providers, who uses Rogers/Bell infrastructure), but was pressured after the fact to raise them by threats from the big carriers of holding off investment in rural Canada. Result: rates increased.
"High speed" in Canada is pretty expensive: a 50mbps plan goes for about CAD$90. For comparison, a similar plan in the US goes for USD$45 (CAD$57)
The big canadian telecomms are also highly dysfunctional. AT&T support is actually good in comparison.
