- mabbo 6y agoIt's a strange day when the Daily Mail has better information in its article than the BBC.
- ncann 6y agoOn the one hand, it's annoying that they leave out the most seek-after detail of the article, one that everyone who reads the article wants to know about. On the other hand, the BBC has been in hot water in the past when they reported people's speeches/posts/etc., as is, since many people consider it insensitive, causing emotional harm, etc.
- hpoe 6y agoThis article has no info on the tweet or what was said can we get a better source?
- jandrese 6y agoHe was advocating for the death of British servicemen. Wasn't subtle either. Straight up "the only good X is a dead X" statement.
- thedevil 6y agoIt sounds like celebrating, not advocating. That's a very different thing.
- happytoexplain 6y agoIt's not clear to me what you mean. Celebrating seems like a subset of advocating in most cases, including this one. Advocating: X occurrence is good. Celebrating: X occurrence happened, and that's good.
- vlucas 6y agoSo... What did the Tweet say?
- gonzo 6y ago"The only good Brit soldier is a deed one, burn auld fella, buuuuurn."
- thatguy0900 6y agoI can only assume there are hundreds of Scottish tweets a day calling for someone's death unless Scottish Twitter is substantially better than in other country's. Why was this one singled out?
- dogma1138 6y agoBecause someone in a position of power was bored.
- pvaldes 6y agoHow many years old was this lad, like 9? Adult people shouldn't behave like a toddler and government should overreact by a tantrum. Is embarrassing for both parts.
- mdoms 6y ago35, it's in the article.
- castis 6y agoThe tweet said: "The only good Brit soldier is a deed one, burn auld fella, buuuuurn." Seems pretty innocuous compared to the stuff we normally see online. Hardly worth government intervention. Interested to see where this goes regardless.
- dogma1138 6y agoIf even 0.1% of the twa... I mean tweet that celebrated Tatcher’s death would result in jail time we’ll need a new Australia.
