London Finance Takes Another Hit as Carbon Market Goes to EU
- gurumeditations 6y agoMight as well not post it if it’s behind a paywall.
- klelatti 6y agoTwo UK leave supporting ministers have written letters to counterparts in the EU over the last few days complaining about not being consulted about EU actions that affect British business. Not sure these ministers understand the difference between the concepts of inside and outside.
- redis_mlc 6y ago"Carbon Market." lol.
- addicted 6y agoBrexit was always gonna be a net loss to the UK. But it could have been managed so much better. Instead of focusing on what was a far more important industry to the UK, the finance industry, during negotiations, the UK leadership chose to focus on symbolism through its insistence on expanding British fishing rights. The irony, of course, is that they did not even get too many concessions there, and focused on the completely wrong stuff (the British were negotiating greater access to fish, instead of trying to earn frictionless transport of fish into the continent, where the majority of their fish customers lie). As a result British fishermen currently don’t have enough business to even fish the catchment areas they did while the UK areas still in the EU.
