Tesla Invests $1.5B in Bitcoin, Plans to Accept Cryptocurrency
- mvolfik 6y agoWaiting to see the comments here. Did Musk just change his opinion, or go insane? Or could this happen without Musk's direct intervention?
- solveit 6y agoI think I speak for many, many people when I say that I am done trying to understand Elon Musk.
- jbverschoor 6y agoNo.. he's just sick and tired of the financial system, the SEC, etc.
- stunt 6y agoHe has recently mentioned that he is changing his mind about cryptocurrency. So this is not a news. I personally think there is an overestimated perception about how Elon Musk doesn't like money, and that he is all in for the environment. He has been very successful to build that brand for himself, but it's exaggerated that he's very different from other billionaires. I'm not saying he or other billionaires are bad, but I also don't buy the idea of Musk being different than everyone else. Most of the people even don't know that he wasn't a co-founder of Tesla. He is certainly opportunistic and big risk taker like many other billionaires. But, he is capitalizing on his brand as someone that is radically different from others and is all in for the environment.
- JackPoach 6y agoNot sure how much of this is speculation and how much is pure trolling. Welcome to the postmodern capitalism where nothing makes sense.
- bhaak 6y agoYou can say about Elon Musk what you want but he knows how to make headlines. I'm not sure you need $1.5B for those kind of headlines but these bitcoins can be sold again after all.
- runako 6y agoThe timing on this announcement appears designed to overshadow other Tesla news from this morning: https://www.autonews.com/china/tesla-called-chinese-regulators-over-customer-complaints https://www.autonews.com/china/tesla-called-chinese-regulato...
