I did a motorcycle tour through South America and happened to drive though here, to the town of chachapoyas and kuelap. Kuelap is insanely underrated. It's a mini machu picchu, admittedly maybe not as cool but almost, but the day that I went there, I was the only tourist there, minus a few laborers doing restoration work on some of the sites. On the other hand, machu picchu is pretty much a parse of people 24/7 True undiscovered gem.
