Interesting approach, I like it. I’m bemused to observe that even though you include a section describing alternatives, there are still the usual number of comments saying “why not just use x” in typical HN style. I often want a simple file based templating system, and this is a nice example because it’s closer to being a declarative standard that could be reimplemented in various languages and for any platform.
