Almost all funding and research in medicine have been redirected to COVID and we have a handful of vaccines that have been developed and tested in about 18 months. If that isn’t to “science the shit” out of it, I don’t know what would be. But, as you elude to, none of that matters if public officials and decision makers don’t care for science.
