Ask HN: Does Apple Silicon (M1) support ECC memory?
`AppleARM64ErrorHandler: will not panic on correctible ECC errors` [1] but it doesn't look conclusive.

- wmf 6y agoNo, the main memory is not ECC. The L1/L2/L3 caches might have ECC.
- slayerjain 6y agoThat's interesting. I know there's no reference for it being ECC, but do you know for sure it's not ECC? Since the RAM is packaged into the SOC, and these chips are probably going to be scaled up to high-end workstations, I thought Apple might have done something about ECC memory.
- wmf 6y agoECC memory would be 144-bit or 160-bit.
- slayerjain 6y agoand what about the M1 unified memory? I'm sorry, I'm not a memory expert :)
- floam 6y agoLPDDR never has ECC. Also, one can look at the [x-rays of the M1 die (https://images.anandtech.com/doci/16252/M1.png https://images.anandtech.com/doci/16252/M1.png) and see the eight 16-bit LPDDR channels. It might have ECC on caches but that's nothing exciting.
