I got a microscope and I've always been planning to get into biology / genes etc. I like to write code. I like to break things. What could I do with a microscope? What are some interesting biology projects for a person like me? I know nothing about biology.

Heise.de published a description for an open source holographic microscope which can generate 3d views. This said, mine doesn‘t work, and the guys behind it aren‘t really helpful or friendly. Physicists, what can I say? Sunk 300€ into it, misses some crucial information on calibration and useage according to me.
