Yes, it’s a temporary defiance, the amazing complexity that we have evolved is mind bending if you go down to the atom level. There is no reason, apart from not having a full understanding and the tech needed, to doubt that people will live forever at some point in the future (probably not within our lifetimes and probably at some point we will discard the biological part, but still)
